Interest of Johnson - No. 20120364
Jeremy Johnson appeals from the district court order civilly committing him as a sexually dangerous individual.
The State petitioned to commit Johnson as a sexually dangerous individual. An expert on behalf of the State completed a sexually dangerous individual evaluation of Johnson, and the court ordered another expert appointed as an independent expert evaluator. The court held a hearing on the State's petition, and both the State's expert and the respondent's expert testified. The court found that Johnson was a sexually dangerous individual subject to civil confinement.
On appeal, Johnson argues that the district court erred when it determined there was clear and convincing evidence that he has a congenital or acquired condition that is manifested by a sexual disorder, a personality disorder or other mental disorder or dysfunction.
