The Executive Committee of the Judicial Conference met on October 4, 2012. Chair Kapsner
called the meeting to order at 8:02 a.m.
Approval of the minutes from the September 26, 2012 meeting was tabled to allow members an
opportunity to review them.
Chair Kapsner explained Judge Sonna Anderson has asked to be relieved of her duty as chair of
the Committee on Legislation. Judge Sonja Clapp has indicated that she does not believe she is a
member of the committee, but if she is, she would also like to be relieved of this duty. Justice
Sandstrom has volunteered to serve as Chair of the Committee on Legislation. The bylaws
require that the committee consist of 3 members of the judicial conference. The members are
appointed by the Chair of the Executive Committee, in consultation with the members of the Executive Committee. Chair Kapsner asked for recommendations for other members. Judge
McCullough suggested Judge John Irby. Judge Lee suggested Judge David Nelson. Justice
Sandstrom suggested Judge Doug Mattson. Chair Kapsner will contact those who were
recommended to see if they are willing to serve.
The date and time of the next meeting of the Executive Committee will be at noon on November
20, 2012, at the Seven Seas in Mandan, with arrangements made for Judge Lee and Judge
McCullough to attend via conference call.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:07 a.m.
