Proposed Amendments to the
North Dakota Rules of Professional Conduct

The Joint Committee on Attorney Standards filed proposed amendments to the North Dakota Rules of Professional Conduct. The proposed amendments were heard by the Supreme Court on February 2, 2006. Written comments were encouraged, and written comments on the proposed amendments were also referred to the Court. The Court considered the matter, and

ORDERED, proposed amendments to the North Dakota Rules of Professional Conduct, which include the repeal of current Rule 2.2 and the renumbering of current Rule 2.3 to Rule 2.2, and new proposed rules 1.0, 2.3 and 4.5, are hereby ADOPTED, as further amended by the Court, effective August 1, 2006.

The Supreme Court of the State of North Dakota convened May 3, 2006, with the Honorable Gerald W. VandeWalle, Chief Justice, and the Honorable Dale V. Sandstrom, the Honorable Mary Muehlen Maring, the Honorable Carol Ronning Kapsner, the Honorable Daniel J. Crothers, Justices, directing the Clerk of the Supreme Court to enter the above order.
