RE: Uniform Mediation Act
The Committee has received a request from Judge Hagerty to take a look at the Uniform Mediation Act for possible inclusion in the rules or, alternatively, for introduction at the next legislative session. The Uniform Mediation Act was approved by the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws on August 16, 2001. It essentially establishes a strong mediation privilege. The Uniform Mediation Act Executive Summary, which is included as part of the Committee agenda materials, explains the intent and purpose of the Act. A copy of the Uniform Mediation Act as approved by NCCUSL is also attached.
