RE: Clerk of Court Consolidation
In conference committee amendments to the judiciary's budget legislation, Senate Bill 2002, the Legislature indicated its intent for counties to combine or share the services of clerks of court. The amendments further required the Supreme Court to "include funding necessary to efficiently fund administration of the district courts."
Justice VandeWalle has asked for Committee review of the rule amendments necessary to accommodate clerk of court consolidation. In the material following are rule amendments for your consideration.
What other amendments are necessary? Most of the rules probably do not need amending. They simply refer to the clerk of court in generic form without specifying where the clerk must be located or requiring a particular clerk of court.
