Opinions of the Supreme Court of North Dakota are being regularly added to this Website maintained by the Court. Opinions are being added shortly after filing. Earlier opinions have been added from December 1965.
A sophisticated search engine is operational. Among the features:
Footnotes of more recent opinions are in hypertext. When concurring and dissenting opinions are in the same document as the Opinion of the Court, footnote numbering may not restart at number 1 in those supplemental opinions as they do in the pre-1997 originals.
Since January 1, 1997, the Supreme Court has been using the new "media-neutral" case citation. Which means each opinion is assigned a North Dakota citation as it is filed (for example, the 23rd case filed in 1997 would be given the number: 1997 ND 23). Paragraphs in these opinions are numbered and footnotes are consecutively number through the entire document including concurring and dissenting opinions.
