The Chair called the meeting to order.
The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as distributed.
Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) Initiative.
Robert Pope updated the committee on the work done with the CJIS project, which relates to providing a central point of inquiry for justice information.
Becky Absey asked if there was a replacement to the State's Attorney System being considered. Mr. Pope answered that yes, there was one being considered as part of the CJIS initiative.

Updated Information Technology Plan.
Kurt presented the updated technology plan to the committee and advised the committee that the budget portion of the IT Plan is very tentative at this point. The budget will become more finalized in July and August.
Doug Johnson moved to advance the IT Plan to the Supreme Court for their consideration and approval for submission to ITD. Fay McIntyre second the motion. The motion passed.
Kurt will submit the IT Plan to the Supreme Court.
Policy Development
There was discussion about current technology related policies in the Judicial Branch and in the Executive Branch. Kurt stated that he and Curt Wolfe, Executive Branch Chief Information Officer reached agreement that the Executive Branch policy related to acceptable use would include language that the policy is to be used as a model for other departments and branches of government to adopt.
The committee asked Kurt to review current policies for changes and provide suggested drafts at a future meeting.
Updates for ongoing initiatives
UCIS Expansion - Kurt informed the committee that the addition of the 10 counties to UCIS is under way and going very well.
PCSS and UCIS - Kurt updated the committee on the integration of PCSS and UCIS. The project is on schedule and in budget. Completion is anticipated to be in November, 2002.
Grand Forks, SAMS and UCIS update - Integration is complete. NECJD is using UCIS from the Judicial AS400 in Bismarck and SAMS from the County AS400 in Grand Forks.
Kurt praised the Clerk of Court Staff in Grand Forks for their patience and assistance during the conversion project.
ITV - Kurt presented the letter from David Saxowsky regarding ongoing collaboration with ITV systems.
The chair stated he would respond to the letter to ensure the dialog continues.

Justice Sandstrom mentioned that he will be traveling to Florida to accept the Eagle E-Government award for the Best Judicial Branch Web Site from the Council of State Governments.
Justice Sandstrom mentioned that materials from the State Court Web Site can now be downloaded to Palm Pilots.
The June meeting will be cancelled and the September meeting moved to August in Fargo.
