The Executive Committee of the Judicial Conference met on June 16, 2011. Chair Geiger called
the meeting to order at 1:35 p.m.
Justice Crothers moved to approve the minutes of the April 27, 2011 meeting. The motion was
seconded by Judge Weir. The motion carried and the minutes were approved.
The committee was advised that there is a need to appoint two judges to the Pattern Jury
Instruction Commission. Judge Gail Hagerty’s term will expire on June 30, 2011, and she is not
eligible for reappointment due to term limits. Judge Daniel Narum’s term will expire on June 30,
2011, he is eligible for reappointment and has indicated his willingness to remain on the
Commission. Chair Geiger said that four people have expressed interest in being appointed to
the Commission: Judge Cynthia Feland, Judge David Nelson, Judge Steven Marquardt and
Judge Fair McEvers. After further discussion, Justice Crothers moved that Judge Daniel
Narum and Judge Cynthia Feland be appointed to a three-year term on the Pattern Jury
Instruction Commission, beginning July 1, 2011 and ending June 30, 2014. The motion was
seconded by Justice Kapsner. Motion carried.
There being no further business to come before the committee, the chair adjourned the meeting at
1:39 p.m.
