Executive Committee Present: Staff: Keithe E. Nelson Chair Dale V. Sandstrom called the meeting to order at 2:40 p.m. He announced that Mike Ahlen resigned from the Judicial Education Commission and a replacement is needed. Both Tom Lockney and Can dace Zierdt are interested. Judge Kirk Smith moved Candace Zierdt be appointed. Judge Ronald E. Goodman seconded the motion. Motion carried. Chair Sandstrom stated that Judge Robert W. Holte asked to have another member of the Jury Standards Committee appointed. There was discussion about appointing another member. No further action was taken. Judge James M. Bekken spoke of the need to get Judicial Conference members involved with the Judicial Compensation Committee and SBAND, if they are willing. Chair Sandstrom said he will take this issue under advisement and act after consultation with Chief Justice Gerald W. VandeWalle, the bar and other interested parties. Justice Mary Muehlen Maring volunteered to serve on the special committee that is putting together a compensation plan. A motion to add her name was made, seconded and carried. The meeting was adjourned at 3:05 p.m.
