The Executive Committee of the Judicial Conference met on November 24, 2008. Chair Herman
called the meeting to order at 8:00 a.m.
Judge McCullough made a motion to approve the minutes of the last meeting. The motion
carried and the minutes were approved.
Chair Herman advised the committee of the need to make two appointments to the Judicial
Branch Education Commission. He reviewed a recommendation from the Justice Maring, Chair
of the Judicial Branch Education Commission, to appoint Judge John McClintock to a three-year
term to replace Judge Irby and to appoint Deb Carlson, Unit 1 Juvenile Court Director, to a three-year term to replace Shawn Peterson. Both appointments would be effective January 1, 2009.
Chair Herman called for additional nominations. There being none, he requested a motion on the
recommendations. Justice Crothers moved that the Chair of the Judicial Conference appoint
Judge McClintock and Deb Carlson to the Judicial Branch Education Commission. The motion
carried.
The committee then turned to a discussion of when to schedule the next meeting of the Executive
Committee. After discussion it was determined that the next meeting should be a telephone
conference in mid-April, 2009.
Judge Geiger made a motion to adjourn the meeting. The motion carried and the meeting was
adjourned at 8:37 a.m.
