I. Opening Business:
A.The conference call convened at 10:30 a.m. Members present included Judge Donald Jorgensen; Shawn Peterson, Professor Candace Zierdt; Judge Ronald Goodman; Judge John Irby; Louie Hentzen, Ted Gladden, and Aglae Young and Marilyn Moe, staff. (Members absent: Justice Carol Ronning Kapsner; Jean Carrier; Judge William Severin; Judge William McLees.
II. Ongoing Business:
Chair Jorgensen informed the members that Judge Bill McLees has resigned from the Judicial Education Committee. Judge McLees’s committee was to develop the program for the Judicial Institute. Chair Jorgensen asked if anyone was interested in filling this position. Ted Gladden will send out an email to ask for names of those interested in filling this position and report back to Chair Jorgensen. Those names will be submitted to the Executive Committee for appointment. Marilyn Moe stated that there are three positions that will also need appointment after January 1, 2005. Marilyn will send Judge Jorgensen the information.Ted Gladden informed the group that he was in the process of putting together a job description for an Education Coordinator. He would keep the commission informed of that process.
Chair Jorgensen has received suggestions for topics at the Judicial Institute. The Commission decided to set a meeting for November 22, 2004, during the Judicial Conference to prepare and discuss the Judicial Institute scheduled for May 23-26, 2005.
