Connie Cleveland moved to accept the minutes of the May 13, 2005, meeting. Dave McGeary Seconded. The motion carried.
Karen Kringlie gave a status report of the Best Practices Advisory Committee. The draft was sent to the Directors of Juvenile Court for comment. Those comments were received and slight adjustments to the working manual made. The manual will be ready for review by the Juvenile Policy Board at the October 7, 2005, meeting.
Louie Hentzen reported that the final report from Jim Larson discussing validation of the YASI instrument was finished and copies were furnished to the Policy Board for their review. There will be a final training session for the juvenile court officers at their September seminar. Judge Kleven indicated she would write a letter to the Judicial Education Commission requesting that YASI education and training be placed on the schedule for judicial education as recommended in the final report.
The report on the juvenile court staffing standards study, completed by the National Center for State Courts, was distributed just prior to the meeting. Members were asked to review and share any comments at the next meeting on October 7. 2005.
The rest of the meeting was centered around Ch. 27-20. Discussion was had
covering Sections 26 to 35. The Board will begin with Section 36 at the next meeting on October 7. Jim Ganje reported that he will have revised language on Sections 1 through 35 at the next meeting.
