Judge Herauf called the meeting to order at 12:58 p.m.
Discussion on Extended Juvenile Jurisdiction Judge Herauf reported on the EJJ Subcommittee meetings where Judge Herauf, Cory Pedersen,
Louie Hentzen and Jim Ganje met and went through various drafts of the bill under consideration
by the Judicial Interim Committee. Judge Herauf discussed that the EJJ bill seemed to be
developing into the Juvenile Policy Board’s project and the Board needed to decide if they
support the EJJ bill.
There was discussion about the mechanics, procedural issues and impact of EJJ.
A motion was made by Karen Kringlie to indicate to the Judicial Interim Committee a lack
of Juvenile Policy Board support for the concept. The motion was seconded by Judge
Narum. The motion carried.
Judge Herauf asked Louie Hentzen to contact himself and Jim Ganje to determine who will
address the Judicial Interim Committee on behalf of the Juvenile Policy Board if a hearing is
called.
