Roger Leo Gette, 63, formerly of Devils Lake, N.D., died Sunday, April 22, 2012, in Dallas, Texas.
The son of Leo and Rose Gette, he was born August 30, 1948, and was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School. He attended college at the University of North Dakota and graduated from UND School of Law. For the past 32 years, he has been an attorney for Legal Aid of North Texas, a member of the State Bar of Texas, Dallas Bar Association, National Legal Aid Defenders Association, and Dallas Area Social Security Claimants Attorneys. He was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Irving, Texas, serving as a deacon since 2006, and was involved in the Marriage Ministry for the Diocese of Dallas. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed helping people in need and viewed everyone as equals. He became a member of PMP Pals, an International support group for patients of Pseudomyxoma Peritonei after his 2002 diagnosis. Roger showed a strong love of nature and believed in taking care of the environment. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, and Dallas Stars fan. Roger was a loving husband, father, and proud grandfather.
Roger is survived by his wife, Marilyn Gette of Irving; daughters, Jennifer Pettis and husband Robert of Baltimore, Md.; Sarah Pope and husband, Nakia of Rock Hill, S.C., and Leanna Andrews and husband, Bobby of Arlington, Texas; father, Leo Gette and wife, Ruby of Devils Lake; grandchildren, Kaytlyn Andrews, Mikayla Pettis, Eleanor Pope, Landon Pettis, and Emerson Pope; brother, Ron Gette and wife, Nancy, of Gainesville, Texas; sisters, Janice Weiss and husband, Tim of Corpus Christi, Texas, Judy Gette and husband, Ike King of Wasilla, Alaska; and Darlene Smith of Fargo.
He was preceded in death by his mother Rose Gette.
