Brian Webb Keohane, age 77, of Beach, North Dakota, died on Tuesday, August 2, 2011, at the Wibaux County Nursing Home in Wibaux, Mont. A Vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 8, 2011, at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Beach. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 9, 2011, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Reverend Father Russell Kovash officiating. Rite of Committal will be held at the St. Johnís Catholic Cemetery in Beach. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Beach has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Brian was born on July 8, 1934, in Jamestown, North Dakota, the son of John Manion and Charlotte (Bitner) Keohane. He received his early grade school education in Campbell, Minnesota and moved to Beach with his parents when he was twelve years old, graduating from Beach High School with the class of 1952. Brian then attended the University of North Dakota Law School in Grand Forks, North Dakota where he graduated in 1960.
Brian enlisted in the Untied States Air Force in 1961, where he worked with the Judge Advocateís Office and attained the rank of Captain. He was honorably discharged in 1965.
Brian married Janet Noll on July 21, 1962, at the Mather Air Force Base in Sacramento, California. After Brians discharge from the military they moved back to Beach where Brian practiced law. He also helped his father in abstracting and tax preparation.
Brian was very active in his community having served on several boards, including the Beach School board, the Golden Valley County Park board and the Beach Park board. He was a member of the North Dakota State Bar Association for fifty years, the Elks, the American Legion for forty-six years and the Knights of Columbus. Brian loved everything that involved sports, in high school he excelled in basketball, baseball and track. He later loved golfing, bowling and watching sports. Brian also enjoyed his family, especially his children and grandchildren.
Brian was preceded in death by his parents and one son, John M. Keohane III.
Brian is survived by his wife Janet, of the family home; two sons, Michael (Nancy) Keohane of Monte Vista, Colorado, and Brian (Rachel) Keohane II of Beach; two daughters, Meghan (Steve) Gornick of Rochester Hills, Michigan, and Kelly (Tony) Schotzko of Tony, Wisconsin; one brother, Neil Keohane of Belle Plaine, Minnesota; one sister, Elizabeth Bolton of Cook City, Illinois; and eight grandchildren.
