
John A. “Jack” Dietz, Fargo, died October 29, 2012 at Sanford Health, Fargo.
Jack was born on April 8, 1950. in Wahpeton, North Dakota to John and Audrey (Ehlen) Dietz. He grew up in Wahpeton and graduated from Wahpeton High School. While attending school, Jack reached the rank of Eagle Scout.
Jack attended North Dakota State University, graduating in 1971 with a degree in history and psychology. He attended the University of North Dakota Law School, graduating in 1974. Jack married Donna Johnston on June 10, 1972, in Rolla, N.D.
Jack worked as a Judicial Referee with the East Central Judicial District Court. He had a profound impact on the lives of the youth that he worked with and was revered by many of his colleagues. He retired in 2004. He then served on the Library Board for the Fargo Public Libraries for several years.
Jack loved his family very much and is survived by his wife, Donna; son, Justin Dietz, West Fargo, N.D; daughters, Shannon Dietz, Apple Valley, Minn., and Brigitte (Joe) Jaszkowiak, West Fargo; father, John V. Dietz, Bismarck, N.D.; four grandchildren, Jessica, Rachael, Walker and Emma; brother, Michael Dietz, Rochester, Minn., and sister, Kate Dietz, Bismarck.
He was preceded in death by his mother Audrey Dietz.
Services are Friday, Nov. 2, at 2 p.m., Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, 215 7th St. S., Fargo. Memorials can be sent to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
