The United States Attorney's Office represents the United States in civil, criminal, and appellate litigation in the District of North Dakota. The main office is in Fargo, with a staffed branch office in Bismarck.

Job Description:

The United States Attorney's Office, North Dakota, is seeking an attorney with a strong background in criminal prosecution for its Criminal Division in its Main Office, located in Fargo, ND. The Assistant U. S. Attorney (AUSA) will be responsible for directing the investigation, prosecution and appeal of many different types of criminal cases. Criminal Division AUSAs who are assigned duties in Indian Country may be required to conduct outreach, liaison, and training work on the reservation.

The District is currently seeking one (1) attorney to serve as a Assistant United States Attorneys in the Criminal Division.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications: Applicants must possess a J.D. degree, be duly licensed and authorized to practice as an attorney under the laws of a State, territory, or District of Columbia, and have at least one year of post-J.D. experience, with preferred applicants having 3 or more years. Applicants must be active members in good standing of the bar (any jurisdiction)

Salary: Assistant United States Attorneys' pay is administratively determined based, in part, on the number of years of professional attorney experience. The range of pay for this position is $51,811- $121,569 (plus 14.35% locality pay).

Travel: Occasional travel within and outside the district will be required.

Suitability and Citizenship: It is the policy of the Department to achieve a drug-free workplace and persons selected for employment will be required to pass a drug test which screens for illegal drug use prior to final appointment.
