The Fargo City Attorney office is seeking applicants for a position is an Assistant City Attorney. The office represents and counsels the cityŚworking with city staff, the mayor and city commissioners as well as with all city boards, commissions and departments and other city-affiliated entities. The position involves a variety of interesting work: advising of staff, committees, appointed and elected officials, reviewing and drafting contracts, ordinances, the handling of real estate and drafting of appropriate agreements, deeds, easements and related instruments, litigation of various civil matters, criminal prosecution, and negotiation and administration of all such matters. Areas of law include: zoning/land-use, law enforcement, criminal law and criminal procedure (i.e. search and seizure issues), real estate and business transaction law, state and local government. Attorneys with the office also serve as city prosecutors and the successful applicant must also be willing to handle all criminal litigation matters involving violations of city ordinances in municipal and state courts.
Minimum Job Requirements: Graduation from accredited law school; currently licensed and in good standing with state of North Dakota.
