Minimum Qualifications
Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school.
Licensure (or eligibility for licensure) as an attorney eligible to practice law in the State of North Dakota.
Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Analytical and decision-making ability.
Preference will be given for experience in the practice of law which included court experience, and experience related to actual criminal defense.

Summary of Work:
This position represents indigent clients in judicial proceedings in Northwest and Southwest Judicial Districts and on appeals in the North Dakota Supreme Court, and may provide conflict services in other jurisdictions. This position will be located in Williston, with travel as needed to Watford City, Dickinson, and Minot.
Responsibilities include:
Represent clients in judicial proceedings in a competent, effective and ethical manner
Provide representation for conflict cases in other jurisdictions as necessary which may require some additional travel.
Keep abreast of statutory and decisional law in areas of practice.
Maintain license to practice laws and obtain required CLE credits.
Provide intake and assignment services in accordance with the statutes, administrative rules, agency policies and procedures, and local office procedures and respond promptly to requests for representation from prospective clients of the office
May assist with agency education and training programs and projects for public defenders and contract attorneys.
Performs other duties as necessary and/or assigned by the Commission on Legal Counsel for Indigents.
