Applications for the position of Temporary Law Clerk in the State’s Attorney’s office will be accepted by the Stutsman County Auditor’s Office from March 13, 2013 through March 28, 2013.
Starting Salary
$12.00 per hour – approximately 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday, for 8 weeks in the summer of 2013. Clerk must work at the Stutsman County Courthouse.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be a second year student enrolled at an ABA accredited law school working towards a J.D. Must be eligible for practice under the Rules for Limited Practice of Law by Law Students. Applicants will be subject to a post offer criminal background check.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist attorneys with legal work including finding information and interviewing witnesses. Perform other duties as required and assigned. Assist with the preparation of legal documents, pleadings, motions, briefs and orders. Appear in court when directed. Assist with legal research, trials, and appeals. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing. Know legal jargon. Know the purpose of documents used in criminal cases and the content they need. Be proficient with Westlaw, word processing software, and possess excellent typing skills.
