Three lawyers have applied to fill the North Central District Judge vacancy created by the retirement of Judge William McLees.
The applicants for the judgeship are:
Judicial Nominating Committee interviews for the applicants are tentatively scheduled for May 21 in Minot.
Once the Committee has interviewed the applicants and made its recommendations to Governor Jack Dalrymple, by law he will have thirty days to make a selection from the list of nominees, ask for another list, or call an election.
Under Article 6, § 13, of the North Dakota Constitution the person appointed "shall continue in the position until the next general election immediately following the service of at least two years."
