How did you happen to become a judge?
I was practicing law in Minot, and Hal Davies—owner of the Minot Daily News—called me and asked if I would be interested in becoming a United States District Judge.
What do you most like about being a judge?
Four things belong to a judge: To hear courteously, to answer wisely, to consider soberly, and to decide impartially.
What are some things most people don't know about you?
My experiences as a Marine Corps Officer in World War II, and my background as a member of a large and closely knit family.
