The basics of criminal trials will be the subject of a free CLE program presented by three district judges at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8. The two-hour program will be presented by Judges Cynthia Feland, David Reich, and Bruce Romanick.
It is a part of the “Secrets of the Courthouse” program sponsored by the South Central Judicial District for attorneys who are new to criminal practice.
The judges will share their advice on trial practice, beginning with the charging decision. The session is intended to assist attorneys in effectively presenting cases at trial.
“We want to help new attorneys avoid pitfalls in the courtroom,” Feland said. She said the judges drew on their trial experience in preparing an outline for the session. “It’s really the nuts and bolts of the process,” explained Feland.
The program is free, and no registration is required. More than 25 attorneys attended the first “Secrets” session on April 1. The CLE on April 8 is open to those who attended on April 1, and others who wish to attend.
