The Judicial Nominating Committee has received a letter from Governor Jack Dalrymple convening the Committee to screen applicants and submit a list of nominees to fill the judicial position open as a result of Judge Joel Medd's retirement. The vacancy is in the Northeast Central Judicial District, designated Judgeship No. 3, with chambers in Grand Forks.
The committee is now accepting applications from qualified attorneys interested in the district court appointments. The judgeships will be filled under Chapter 27-25 N.D.C.C. Applications must be received in the SBAND office by 5:00 pm on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013.
Interviews are tentatively scheduled for Oct. 10, 2013, in Grand Forks. Gov. Dalrymple has appointed Jerry Youngberg as his temporary Judicial Nominating Committee member,Chief Justice Gerald Vandewalle has appointed Scott Landa, and the SBAND temporary member will be Tim Dittus. The temporary members will serve on the Judicial Nominating Committee alongside the permanent members until the vacancy is filled.
