4.33 Reprimand is generally appropriate when a lawyer is negligent in determining whether the representation of a client may be materially affected by the lawyer's own interests, or whether the representation will adversely affect another client, and causes injury or potential injury to a client. The issuance of a private reprimand an admonition should be limited to cases of negligence which cause no serious injury or little or no injury to a client. A public reprimand is not a sufficiently harsh sanction in an instance where the lawyer's negligence causes substantial injury to a client.
