Ople J. Teigen, Bismarck, died March 7, 2002, in a Bismarck hospital.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Laurie Natwick officiating. Entombment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. There will be no visitation.
Ople Braund was born Oct. 9, 1909, in Edmore, N.D., the daughter of Joseph and Olive (Amundrud) Braund.
She attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks and graduated from Valley City Teachers College. She received a bachelor of science degree and subsequently taught in elementary schools for two years.
Ople married Obert C. Teigen, also of Edmore, in Grand Forks on Jan. 6, 1934. Obert was an attorney and served as an FBI agent, States Attorney, District Judge, Associate Justice, and Chief Justice of the North Dakota Supreme Court. He retired from the Supreme Court in 1974, and then served as an Administrative Law Judge for the Social Security Administration in Denver and Fargo, retiring from that position in 1978. Mr. Teigen passed away in May of 1978, at the age of 69. Throughout Obert's career, Ople supported her husband and enjoyed the many experiences they had together.
Mrs. Teigen was also active in the Saint Olaf Lutheran Church in Devils Lake and was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Bismarck and the PEO, AJ Chapter.
She is survived by her son, Philip, Littleton, Colo.; two grandchildren, Deborah Ellingson, Piedmont, S.D., and John Teigen, Denver; one sister, Alice Madsen, Fargo; two great-grandchildren; and three nieces.
Ople was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and her brother, Allen.
