Judge El-Dweek was appointed as a District Court Judge for the Northwest Judicial District, Judgeship No. 5, located in Watford City, North Dakota, by Governor Jack Dalrymple in 2015. He was subsequently elected to the position in 2018.
Born in 1981, Judge El-Dweek earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration from the University of North Dakota in 2003. He continued his studies at the University of North Dakota School of Law, receiving his Juris Doctor in 2006, and was admitted to the North Dakota Bar on December 2, 2013.
Prior to his judicial appointment, Judge El-Dweek served as Managing Attorney for Dakota Plains Legal Services from 2006 to 2010, and as a Staff Attorney for the Regional Native Public Defense Corporation from 2010 to 2013. He then became the Supervising Attorney for the Williston Public Defender’s Office, where he served from 2013 until his judicial appointment in 2015.
