Assistant State's Attorney
McKenzie County
McKenzie County is currently accepting applications for a full time Assistant State’s Attorney.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO :
- Juris Doctorate and one (1) year of experience in criminal litigation and two (2) years in an active law practice; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
- North Dakota license to practice law at the time of hire
- Applying Federal, State, and local laws, rules and regulations
- Knowledge of judicial and administrative procedures and rules of evidence
- Experience prosecuting or defending criminal cases
- Ability to analyze facts, evidence, and legal instruments as well as, legal problems and rendering formal opinions
- Willingness and desire to learn new and challenging tasks
GENERAL DUTIES :
- Responsible for gathering and managing evidence in civil, criminal, juvenile, and traffic cases
- Presenting information in court to prosecute or defend actions; especially more complex civil and criminal lawsuits
- Advice Law Enforcement officers, prepare and present warrant application, and conduct probable cause hearings
- Advise elected and appointed officials and County employees as to their legal rights, represent County agencies in legal proceedings
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level
