Long-time LaMoure County Clerk stepping down Friday, March 8, 2019

  Karin Boom     Billie Jo Warcken

Karin Boom, the long-time clerk of court for LaMoure County has decided to take a step back from her duties as clerk and, at her request, has been reassigned as the deputy clerk of court.

Her replacement is Billi Jo Warcken, who was appointed clerk of court effective March 1, 2019, by the LaMoure County Board of Commissioners.

“I’ve been thinking of this and talking to Billi and the county commissioners about making this move for over a year,” Ms. Boom said. “It just seemed like now is the right time to transition. Billi is well-prepared to take over the leadership role and I need more time to focus on other parts of my life.”

Prior to being elevated to the Clerk position, Ms. Warcken served as the deputy clerk of court for 19 years. She also currently serves as the municipal judge for the City of LaMoure.

“This job has been a gift,” Ms. Boom said. “For 32 years I have been able to come to work every day and feel that I can do some good by helping people.”
