General Summary or Purpose

This is a full-time, benefited position for a term of two years with the potential to extend to December 31, 2028.  Interested applicants must submit a cover letter, resume, three professional references and writing sample.

Easily expresses oneself clearly, concisely and grammatically, whether orally or in writing. 

Skilled at and enjoys extensive researching, analyzing and writing.

Demonstrates an ability to provide sound, independent and impartial legal judgments and rulings.

Understands the importance of timely decision-making, naturally decisive.

Shows a judicial temperament of patience, open-mindedness, courtesy, tact, firmness, understanding, compassion and humility.

The Ideal Candidate Minimum Qualifications:

Juris doctor degree from an accredited law school;

3 years of legal practice experience;

License to practice law in the State of ND; and

Must reside in the judicial district after appointment unless waived by the presiding judge.
