Federalist Society offers free CLE event June 12 Friday, June 7, 2019

We have all heard of the Federalist Papers. But are you as familiar with the Anti-Federalist Papers, and their authors? Do the Anti-Federalists properly bear the title of “Founders”?

The North Dakota Lawyers Chapter of the Federalist Society cordially invites you to a complimentary reception and presentation featuring the Honorable Michael B. Brennan of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Judge Brennan will explore what the Anti-Federalists believed, and compare and contrast those beliefs with those of the authors of the Federalist Papers. Judge Brennan’s talk will survey the Anti-Federalist understanding of individual rights and enumerated powers, and how the framing of the United States Constitution was affected by the Anti-Federalists, including whether there is an echo of the Anti-Federalists as influential voices in the constitutional debates of today.

This event is free of charge, including appetizers, beverages, and anticipated CLE credit. Doors open around 5:45 and remarks begin at 6:00 for about an hour. It will be held conveniently in the Mozart Room at the Delta Hotels by Marriott in Fargo, the same location as SBAND's Annual Meeting that begins that day. You need not be registered for the annual meeting in order to attend. Nor do you need to be a member of the Federalist Society--or even a lawyer! Please join us for this occasion and invite your friends and colleagues as well.

Those seeking CLE will register at the door, and we are not requesting prior registration or other response from those who wish to attend. If you have questions, please contact Jake Rodenbiker <jtrodenbiker@gmail.com>.
