Summary of Work

This position will hold the open records and meetings law portfolio which will require the applicant to provide training to public employees at the state, county, and city level about the open records and meetings laws.  The applicant will draft and review legislation about open records and meetings law and research, draft, and review Attorney General's opinions primarily about open records and meetings.  The applicant will also provide general counsel to professional and occupational boards, review and draft agency administrative rules, and draft and review contracts.

Summary of Work

The position is responsible for prosecuting criminal cases in state court.  The successful candidate will be assigned a portfolio of agencies to represent and will coordinate with state and local law enforcement agencies.  Although the position is staffed out of Bismarck, some travel will be required.  Legislative drafting and committee testimony will be required as directed by the Attorney General.  The position requires occasional participation in criminal justice training and public speaking engagements, and will perform other duties as assigned.  We will be hiring someone licensed to practice law in North Dakota or with the expectation of imminent admission, two or more years of prosecution experience preferred.
