Pro hac vice fee payment reminder Thursday, December 1, 2022

Under Admission to Practice Rule 3, attorneys continuing to appear pro hac vice in 2023 in a North Dakota state court proceeding for which they have already filed a motion for pro hac vice admission are required to pay a fee of $380 by January 1, 2023. 

When remitting payment, a letter must be included stating the name of all proceedings in which the attorney will be appearing in 2023. Payment unaccompanied by a letter will automatically be returned to the sender. Payment is accepted only by check or money order (no credit cards accepted).   

Rule 3 requires a new motion and supporting affidavit to be filed for every separate proceeding; however, the fee is only annual.  If, after paying the 2023 fee,  a motion and supporting affidavit are filed to appear in a new proceeding in 2023, only the documentation needs to be filed, no additional fee is required in the calendar year.
