Second vote set in Chief Justice election Tuesday, November 26, 2019

Ballots in the election for Chief Justice were opened Nov. 25.  Because no candidate received a majority of the votes cast, there will be a second vote between Justice Jon Jensen and Justice Lisa Fair McEvers. The winner will replace Chief Justice Gerald VandeWalle on Jan. 1, 2020.

Ballot for the second vote will be sent out on Nov. 29.  They must be returned by Dec. 9.

Chief Justice VandeWalle announced in September that he would not continue in his position. He has served as Chief Justice since 1993 and on the Supreme Court since 1978.
