NOTICE OF HEARINGS

In the Matter of the Judicial Vacancy in District Judgeship No. 6, with Chambers in Minot, North Dakota, Northwest Judicial District
On September 18, 2001, Governor John Hoeven notified this Court that the Honorable Glenn Dill III, District Judge for the Northwest Judicial District, had died, thus creating a vacancy under Section 27-05-02.1(1), N.D.C.C. Section 27-05-02.1, N.D.C.C., requires the Supreme Court to determine whether the vacancy should be filled. The Supreme Court considered the matter, and
ORDERED, that a hearing be held in Courtroom 302 at the Ward County Courthouse in Minot, North Dakota, at 9 a.m., Monday, November 5, 2001, before the Honorable James H. O'Keefepresiding as a Hearing Officer pursuant to section 27-17-03, N.D.C.C. and North Dakota Supreme Court Administrative Rule 7.2, at which time any person may appear and present information and be heard on the following issues:
1) Filling the vacant position at Minot, North Dakota; or
2) Transferring and filling the vacant position.
Presentations will be limited to 20 minutes or as further directed by the Hearing Officer.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, that any person interested in the transfer of this vacant position must file a petition and supporting documentation on the criteria identified in Section 4 of North Dakota Supreme Court Administrative Rule 7.2 and Section 4 of North Dakota Supreme Court Administrative Rule 7.1 with the Clerk of the Supreme Court no later than October 26, 2001, for submission to the Hearing Officer.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, that pursuant to Section 27-05-02.1(4), N.D.C.C., the Supreme Court will consult with the judges and attorneys of the Northwest Judicial District in the Ralph J. Erickstad Courtroom of the Supreme Court, at the State Capitol in Bismarck, North Dakota, at 2:45 p.m., Tuesday, November 27, 2001. Time for personal appearances will be limited.
Any person wishing to appear at either hearing must notify Penny Miller, Clerk of the Supreme Court, at least three business days prior to the scheduled hearing. Any person wishing to comment on this matter may address written comments to Penny Miller, Clerk of the Supreme Court, 600 E. Boulevard Ave., Dept. 180, Bismarck, ND 58505-0530, for submission to the Hearing Officer and the Supreme Court prior to the hearings.
