In the Matter of the Chambering of Four New Judgeships
[¶1] The 64th Legislative Assembly passed House Bill 1002, which has been signed by the Governor, and will become effective July 1, 2015. This legislation provides for four additional district court judges in the state with the chambers to be assigned by the Supreme Court. The Court preliminarily considered the matter, and
[¶2] ORDERED, in contemplation of chambering the new judgeships in the Northwest Judicial District, the South Central Judicial District, or the Southwest Judicial District, the Supreme Court will use the procedure in N.D. Sup. Ct. Admin. R. 7.1 to assign the resident chambers for the new judgeships. Any person wishing to comment on the matter may do so in writing no later than May 26, 2015.
[¶3] It is expected the Supreme Court will receive reports discussing the factors under N.D. Sup. Ct. Admin. R. 7.1, Section 4, for McKenzie, Williams, Burleigh, Morton and Stark counties in the Northwest, South Central and Southwest Judicial Districts from the Court Administrators for Units 3 and 4.
