Proposed Amendments to the North Dakota Rules of Professional Conduct 

[¶ 1] On December 9, 2015, this Court adopted amendments to North Dakota Rules of Professional Conduct 1.0, 1.1, 1.6, 1.17, 1.18, 4.5, 5.3, 5.5, 7.2, 7.3, and 8.5. The Court referred the issue of the use of the term "potential client" or "prospective client" in North Dakota Rules of Professional Conduct 1.18 to the Joint Committee on Attorney Standards. On April 29, 2016, to the Joint Committee on Attorney Standards filed recommendation for amendment of North Dakota Rules of Professional Conduct 1.7, 1.15, and 1.18. The proposed amendments are available athttp://www.ndcourts.gov/Court/Notices/Notices.htm. The Court considered the matter, and

[¶ 3] ORDERED, that proposed amendments to North Dakota Rules of Professional Conduct 1.7, 1.15, and 1.18 are ADOPTED effective July 1, 2016.

[¶ 5] The Supreme Court of the State of North Dakota convened the 25th day of May, 2016, with the Honorable Gerald W. VandeWalle, Chief Justice, and the Honorable Dale V. Sandstrom, the Honorable Carol Ronning Kapsner, the Honorable Daniel J. Crothers, Justices, and the Honorable Lisa Fair McEvers, Justices, directing the Clerk of the Supreme Court to enter the above order.
