Proposed Amendments to North Dakota Supreme Court Administrative Rule 58 Regarding Vexatious Litigants

[¶ 1] On December 26, 2016, the Supreme Court adopted North Dakota Supreme Court Administrative Rule 58 regarding vexatious litigants at the request of the Joint Procedure Committee. The rule became effective March 1, 2017.

[¶ 2] On June 21, 2017, the Supreme Court, on its own motion, considered an amendment to North Dakota Supreme Court Administrative Rule 58 to add a section address the effect of pre-filing orders entered under the rule on other orders limiting or enjoining a person's right or ability to file or service papers or pleadings in any North Dakota State court litigation. The Court considered the matter, and

[¶ 3] ORDERED, that proposed amendments to North Dakota Supreme Court Administrative Rule 58 are ADOPTED, effective immediately.

[¶ 4] The Supreme Court of the State of North Dakota convened the 21st day of June, 2017, with the Honorable Gerald W. VandeWalle, Chief Justice, and the Honorable Carol Ronning Kapsner, the Honorable Daniel J. Crothers, the Honorable Lisa Fair McEvers and the Honorable Jerod E. Tufte, Justices, directing the Clerk of the Supreme Court to enter the above order.
