NOTICE OF COMMENT PERIOD

Proposed Amendments to Administrative Rule 6 Relating to the Transfer of Griggs County from the Northeast Central Judicial District to the Southeast Judicial District

[¶1] Chief Justice Gerald W. VandeWalle received a request from Presiding Judge Lawrence E. Jahnke of the Northeast Central Judicial District to transfer Griggs County from the Northeast Central Judicial District to the Southeast Judicial District. Correspondence was also received from Presiding Judge John T. Paulson of the Southeast Judicial District. Subsequently, on May 5, 1999, this Court referred the issue to the Court Services Administration Committee for expeditious consideration and recommendation.

[¶2] On May 10, 1999, William A. Strutz, Chairman of the Court Services Administration Committee, reported to Chief Justice VandeWalle the Committee had unanimously voted to submit proposed amendments to Administrative Rule 6 to transfer Griggs County from the Northeast Central Judicial District to the Southeast Judicial District, with an effective date consistent with the filling of the vacancy in Judgeship No. 9 of the Southeast Judicial District, with chambers in Jamestown.

[¶3] The Supreme Court considered the matter, and

[¶4] ORDERED, under Section 3, Rule on Procedural Rules, Administrative Rules, and Administrative Orders of the North Dakota Supreme Court , anyone interested in providing comments to the Supreme Court regarding the redistricting of Griggs County may do so in writing by June 21, 1999. Address written comments to Penny Miller, Clerk of the Supreme Court, 600 E. Boulevard Ave., Dept. 180, Bismarck, ND 58505-0530.

[¶5] The Supreme Court of the State of North Dakota convened May 19, 1999, with the Honorable Gerald W. VandeWalle, Chief Justice, and the Honorable William A. Neumann, the Honorable Dale V. Sandstrom, the Honorable Mary Muehlen Maring, the Honorable Carol Ronning Kapsner, Justices, directing the Clerk of the Supreme Court to enter the above order.
