Amendments to Rule 8.4, North Dakota Rules of Professional Conduct

On July 2, 1999, the Joint Committee on Attorney Standard filed proposed amendments to Rule 8.4, North Dakota Rules of Professional Conduct. Notice of Comment was provided under Section 7, N.D.R.Proc.R., and comments were received until October 1, 1999. On October 25, 1999, the proposed amendments and comments were referred to the Joint Committee on Attorney Standards for further consideration. On March 30, 2000, the Joint Committee on Attorney Standards returned Rule 8.4 to the Supreme Court with one change and a lengthier report of the Committee's consideration. A hearing was held on the proposed amendments on June 6, 2000. At that time additional written comments were submitted to the Court. The Court considered the matter, and

ORDERED, proposed amendments to Rule 8.4, North Dakota Rules of Professional Conduct, are ADOPTED, effective October 1, 2000.
