    In January 1998, the Gender Fairness Implementation Committee submitted amendments to the Commentary to Canon 3B(5) and (6) of the North Dakota Code of Judicial Conduct to the Judiciary Standards Committee. In February 1998, the Judiciary Standards Committee considered the amendments through a mail ballot and submitted proposed amendments to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court re-referred the amendments to the Judiciary Standards Committee and requested it to conduct a meeting, either in-person or by conference call, to provide for discussion of the amendments. The Judiciary Standards committee met on May 8, 1998, and reviewed the proposed amendments. The proposed amendments were forwarded to the Supreme Court for approval on June 12, 1998.
