Order of Adoption

In January 1998, the Gender Fairness Implementation Committee submitted amendments to the Commentary to Canon 3B(5) and (6) of the North Dakota Code of Judicial Conduct to the Judiciary Standards Committee. In February 1998, the Judiciary Standards Committee considered the amendments through a mail ballot and submitted proposed amendments to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court re-referred the amendments to the Judiciary Standards Committee and requested it to conduct a meeting, either in-person or by conference call, to provide for discussion of the amendments. The Judiciary Standards committee met on May 8, 1998, and reviewed the proposed amendments. The proposed amendments were forwarded to the Supreme Court for approval on June 12, 1998.

Petition to Move Chambers from Linton to Mandan

Notice is hereby given that on April 13, 1998, the Honorable Benny A. Graff, Presiding Judge of the South Central Judicial District, filed a Petition for Change of Designation of Resident District Court Judgeship Chamber under Administrative Rule 7.1(2), requesting the Supreme Court to change the designation of District Court Judgeship No. 8, with chambers at Linton, North Dakota, to chambers at Mandan, North Dakota, previously occupied by Judgeship No. 3 which was abolished effective March 11, 1998.

Order Extending Rule 8.5

On March 11, 1998, the Honorable Bruce E. Bohlman, Judge of the District Court for the Northeast Central Judicial District, petitioned the Court for an extension of the term limit of Rule 8.5, North Dakota Rules of Court (NDROC), for an additional 18 months. Rule 8.5, NDROC, is scheduled to terminate on April 1, 1998. On March 23, 1998, the Honorable Robert W. Holte, Judge of the District Court for the Northwest Judicial District, filed a letter in support of Judge Bohlman's petition
