Judicial Nominating Committee names finalists for SCJD vacancy Tuesday, July 30, 2019

Three lawyers have been named as finalists to fill a new judgeship in the South Central Judicial District.

The finalists named by the Judicial Nominating Committee are Jessica J. Binder, Hazen; Paul H. Myerchin, Bismarck; and Pamela A. Nesvig, Bismarck.

Governor Doug Burgum now has thirty days to make a selection from the committee's list of nominees or he can ask for another list or call an election.

Under Article 6, § 13, of the North Dakota Constitution the person appointed "shall continue in the position until the next general election immediately following the service of at least two years."

The new judgeship was created by the 66th North Dakota Legislative Assembly.

Jessica J. Binder is Mercer County State's Attorney.  A UND School of Law graduate, she was admitted to practice in North Dakota in 2005.

Paul H. Myerchin is an attorney in private practice from Bismarck.  A UND School of Law graduate, he was admitted to practice in North Dakota in 1997.

Pamela A. Nesvig is a Judicial Referee in Bismarck.  A UND School of Law graduate, she was admitted to practice in North Dakota in 2005.
