ECJD Judge Chase announces resignation Friday, October 10, 2025

East Central Judicial District Judge Nick Chase has given notice of his resignation effective October 10, 2025. Judge Chase was recently confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve as the U.S. Attorney for the District of North Dakota.

Gov. Doug Burgum appointed Judge Nick Chase in April of 2022 to a judgeship in the East Central Judicial District. Prior to his appointment to District Judge, he served for 20 years in the U.S. Attorney’s office for the District of North Dakota, including as Acting U.S. Attorney and First Assistant U.S. Attorney.
