Counties respond to coronavirus emergency Friday, March 20, 2020

Adams County: Effective immediately, the Adams County Courthouse is going to lock its doors to the public.  Staff will only see people by appointment and the courthouse will be closed the next three Fridays so extensive cleaning can be done.  Staff will be working at home on Fridays and available for phone calls from the public and available for bond hearings, etc.  The Clerk of Court's Office phone number is (701) 567-2537.

Barnes County: Effective immediately, the Barnes County Courthouse, Highway Department and other County offices are on lockdown. This means that we are open for business, and that the buildings are or will be locked and visitors will be let in by appointment only. People will be required to call ahead and attempt to complete their business via phone. If that is not possible, then they should make an appointment and whoever the appointment is with will have to let them into the building. We are currently working on signage and informing the media and public. City-County Health District will remain open; however, the public should call ahead for an appointment, use the east door and check in immediately with reception. The Clerk of Court's Office phone number is (701) 845-8512.

Benson County: The Benson County Board of Commissioners entered an Emergency Health Declaration closing the courthouse to the public effective March 19 with no end date stated.  However, Judges Foughty and Olson will be holding court during scheduled time periods pursuant to Supreme Court Administrative Order 25.   Attorneys, litigants and those with court business/scheduled hearings should contact the Clerk of Court office at (701) 473-5345 or email 03Clerk@ndcourts.gov for further instructions (including access to the courthouse).  Those with questions about Juvenile Court cases should call (701) 662-1307.

Billings County: The Billings County commissioners have closed the courthouse to the public. Employees will be present during working hours and answering phones. Master Calendar has been cancelled per Judge Herauf for March 23. It is continued to April 26. The Clerk of Court's Office phone number is (701) 623-4492.

Bottineau County: Bottineau County has closed our courthouse to the public. Staff is still working, however the public is not allowed to come into the building. Court hearings will be conducted per judges' discretion. The Clerk of Court's Office phone number is (701) 228-3983.

Bowman County: Bowman County offices are closed to the public.  Call to conduct business over the phone.  (701)523-3450.

Burleigh County: Burleigh County is closed to the public beginning Friday, March 20.  Parties for emergency hearings will be screened at the door.  Call to conduct business over the phone.  (701)222-6690.

Cass County: Beginning Friday, March 20 several measures will be taken.  County offices will be open by appointment only.  Most of the business citizens do with Cass County can be done by phone or email and we will encourage citizens to take advantage of these options.  A press release notifying the public of this change will be distributed this morning.  We will also have a banner notice on the front page of the website, and fliers with department phone numbers will be posted on all public doors.  If a member of the public comes to the main doors in the Courthouse or Annex, deputies at the security checkpoints will ask what office they intend to visit and may call your office to see if an employee can visit with the individual in the lobby area. The Clerk of Court's Office phone number is (701) 451-6924.

Cavalier County: The Cavalier County Board of Commissioners entered an Emergency Health Declaration closing the courthouse to the public effective March 19 with no end date stated.  However, Judge Fontaine will be holding court during scheduled time periods pursuant to Supreme Court Administrative Order 25.   Attorneys, litigants and those with court business/scheduled hearings should contact the Clerk of Court office at (701) 256-2124 or email 10Clerk@ndcourts.gov for further instructions (including access to the courthouse).  Those with questions about Juvenile Court cases should call (701) 352-0671.

Dickey County: Effective March 18, Dickey County will be restricting access to all county offices until further notice. Please call the Clerk of Courts office at (701) 349-3249 ext.4 for more information.

Dunn County: The Dunn County Commission has passed a motion to temporarily close the courthouse on Friday.  The order is effective immediately and will remain in effect for two weeks.   Regular business hours of 8 to 4:30 will remain in effect Monday through Thursday.

Emmons County: Emmons County offices are closed to the public.  Call to conduct business over the phone.  (701)254-4812.

Foster County: Effective March 19, Foster County has closed the courthouse doors to the public until further notice.   Employees will still report to work.  You are asked to conduct business by phone, mail, or e-mail.    Please call the Clerk of Court at (701) 652-1001 for more information.

Grand Forks County: The Grand Forks County Board of Commissioners entered an Emergency Health Declaration closing the courthouse to the public effective March 20 with no end date stated.  However, the Northeast Central Judicial District Judges  will be holding court during scheduled time periods pursuant to Supreme Court Administrative Order 25.   Attorneys, litigants and those with court business/scheduled hearings should contact the Clerk of Court office at (701) 787-2700 or email 18Clerk@ndcourts.gov for further instructions (including access to the courthouse).  Those with questions about Juvenile Court cases should call (701) 787-2770.

Grant County: The Grant county courthouse is closed to the public from 4 p.m. March 18 to March 28. For more information call (701) 622-3544 or (701) 622-3615.

Griggs County: Griggs has closed its doors to the public and is requesting that individuals call the office for assistance.  The Clerk of Court office number is (701) 797-2772.

Hettinger County: Hettinger County offices are closed to the public.  Call to conduct business over the phone.  (701)824-2645.

Kidder County: County commissioners closed the courthouse to the public until further notice.  Employees are working in their offices; no one is working from home at this time.  Phone numbers are posted at the door.  The public will be allowed in the building for essential business only, after being successfully screened. The Clerk of Court office number is (701) 475-4548.

LaMoure County: LaMoure County Courthouse will have restricted access starting March 19, 2020 until further notice. Please call the Clerk of Court at (701) 883-6050 for more information.

Logan County: County commissioners closed the courthouse to the public until further notice.  Employees are working in their offices; no one is working from home at this time.  Phone numbers for each office are posted at the door.  The public will be allowed in the building for essential business only, after being successfully screened. The Clerk of Court office number is (701) 754-2751.

McIntosh County: McIntosh County has closed the courthouse doors to the public but employees will come to work as usual.   If someone comes to the courthouse they will be asked a series of questions regarding their health status and if they pass they can call the office that they have business with and who will then decide whether to meet them or let them in. The Clerk of Court's Office phone number is (701) 288-5147.

McHenry County: The McHenry County Board of Commissioners entered an Emergency Health Declaration closing the courthouse to the public effective March 20 with no end date stated.  However, Judge Hurly will be holding court during scheduled time periods pursuant to Supreme Court Administrative Order 25.   Attorneys, litigants and those with court business/scheduled hearings should contact the Clerk of Court office at (701) 537-5729 or email 25Clerk@ndcourts.gov for further instructions (including access to the courthouse).  Those with questions about Juvenile Court cases should call (701) 662-1307.

McLean County: McLean County offices will be closed on Fridays.

Mercer County: The Mercer County Board of Commissioners voted March 20 to close the courthouse to public effective immediately. The Clerk of Court's Office phone number is (701) 745-3262. 

Morton County: Morton County offices are closed to the public.  Call to conduct business over the phone.  (701)667-3355.

Mountrail County: Until further notice, the Mountrail County Commissioners have approved a motion to close all county buildings to the public effective March 18. This closure excludes any court hearings. Employees will still report to work. It is strongly advised that you call ahead to determine if business can be conducted by phone or online, rather than coming in person to an office. Nelson County: The Nelson County Board of Commissioners entered operational recommendations closing the courthouse to the public effective March 18.  However, the Northeast Central District Court Judges will be holding court during scheduled time periods pursuant to Supreme Court Administrative Order 25.   Attorneys, litigants and those with court business/scheduled hearings should contact the Clerk of Court office at (701) 247-2462 or email 32Clerk@ndcourts.gov for further instructions (including access to the courthouse).  Those with questions about Juvenile Court cases should call (701) 787-2770.

Oliver County: Oliver County is currently on lockdown with phone numbers posted on the door. The Clerk of Court's Office phone number is (701) 794-8777.

Pembina County: The Pembina County Board of Commissioners entered an Emergency Health Declaration order closing the courthouse to the public effective March 18 through April 1.  However, Judge Fontaine (and other judges) will be holding court during scheduled time periods pursuant to Supreme Court Administrative Order 25.   Attorneys, litigants and those with court business/scheduled hearings should contact the Clerk of Court office at (701) 265-4373 or email 34Clerk@ndcourts.gov for further instructions (including access to the courthouse).  Those with questions about Juvenile Court cases should call (701) 352-0671.

Pierce County: The Pierce County Board of Commissioners entered an Emergency Health Declaration closing the courthouse to the public effective March 18, 2019 with no end date stated.  However, Judge Hurly will be holding court during scheduled time periods pursuant to Supreme Court Administrative Order 25.   Attorneys, litigants and those with court business/scheduled hearings should contact the Clerk of Court office at (701) 776-6161 or email 35Clerk@ndcourts.gov for further instructions (including access to the courthouse).  Those with questions about Juvenile Court cases should call (701) 662-1307.

Ransom County: Effective March 18, Ransom County has closed the courthouse doors to the public until further notice.   Employees will still report to work.  You are asked to conduct business by phone, mail, or e-mail.    Please call the Clerk of Court at (701) 683-6120 for more information. 

Renville County: The Renville County Board of Commissioners entered an Emergency Health Declaration closing the courthouse to the public effective March 20 with no end date stated.  However, Judge Benson will be holding court during scheduled time periods pursuant to Supreme Court Administrative Order 25.   Attorneys, litigants and those with court business/scheduled hearings should contact the Clerk of Court office at (701) 756-6398 or email 38Clerk@ndcourts.gov for further instructions (including access to the courthouse).  Those with questions about Juvenile Court cases should call (701) 662-1307.

Richland County: Effective March 18, the Richland County Courthouse, Law Enforcement Center, Highway Department Shops and any other County offices are on lockdown. This means that we are open for business, and that the buildings are or will be locked and visitors will be let in by appointment only. People will be required to call ahead and attempt to complete their business via phone, mail, or email.  If that is not possible, then they should make an appointment and whoever the appointment is with will have to let them into the building.  Visitors will be required to answer questions before they are allowed to enter. Rolette County: The Rolette County Board of Commissioners entered an Emergency Health Declaration closing the courthouse to the public effective March 18 with no end date stated.  However, Judge Benson will be holding court during scheduled time periods pursuant to Supreme Court Administrative Order 25.   Attorneys, litigants and those with court business/scheduled hearings should contact the Clerk of Court office at (701) 477-3816 or email 40Clerk@ndcourts.gov for further instructions (including access to the courthouse).  Those with questions about Juvenile Court cases should call (701) 662-1307.

Sargent County: Due to the COVID-19 virus, the county commissioners have signed a Health Emergency Declaration for Sargent County. To help prevent the spread of the virus, ALL Sargent County Buildings (courthouse, administrative buildings, county shops, fair buildings, and the extension offices) have been placed on a LOCKDOWN to the community. The offices are all still fully staffed, and are able to help via Phone. The offices are open Monday through Friday 9am-4:30pm. Call the Clerk of Court at (701) 724-6241 ext. 111.

Sioux County: Sioux County offices are closed to the public.  Call to conduct business over the phone.  (701)854-3853.

Slope County: Slope County is restricting access to the courthouse.  Call to conduct business over the phone.  (701)879-6275.

Stark County: Stark County is closed to the public beginning Thursday, March 19.  The courthouse will be completely closed all day on Friday, March 27. Parties for emergency hearings will be screened at the door. Steele County: The Steele County Board of Commissioners entered an Emergency Declaration closing the courthouse to the public effective March 19. If someone comes to the courthouse they will be asked a series of questions regarding their health status.  Courthouse hours will be from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday – Thursday (closed 12:30-1:00 for lunch) and closed  on Friday until further notice.  The public can call or email the office they need during business hours.  The Clerk of Courts phone number is 701-524-2152.

Stutsman County: Stutsman County offices are closed to the public effective March 23.  Call the Clerk of Court at (701) 252-9042.

Traill County: The Traill County Courthouse will be closed Friday, March 20 but will re-open on Monday.  Our doors currently are locked to the public.
