Grand Forks County to celebrate clerk's office renovations June 15 Thursday, June 14, 2018

Improvements to the Grand Forks County Clerk of District Court office will be unveiled at a Grand Reopening celebration at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, June 15.

The office received a 2017 Court Facilities Improvement Grant totaling $60,821.97, which paid for 75 percent of the clerk's office renovation. Grand Forks County paid the remaining 25 percent.

The clerk's office was previously divided into civil and criminal divisions. As part of the project, the divisions were combined in a single office, which enhanced court personnel safety, security and cross-training ability.

Construction work began Feb. 6. On May 18, the clerk's office relocated to the renovated combined clerk's office location.

	The doors to the Grand Forks County Clerk of Court office formerly opened directly into the Criminal Division.
	The doors led to an unsecured desk staffed by deputy clerks of court.
	Public access terminals previously were crammed into a side hallway.
	During construction, clerks worked from tables in a makeshift office.
	Securing the former doorway was an important part of the project.
	Now, the civil and criminal clerks meet the public from a single secure window.
	On the inside of the clerk's office, staff work in a secure area.
	The public access terminal area has been improved with more convenient access to the clerk's office.
