Text notifications now available in criminal, juvenile cases Wednesday, April 29, 2020

The North Dakota court system is now offering text notifications to parties involved in criminal and juvenile court cases.

Parties who sign up will receive text notifications for all newly scheduled, re-scheduled, or canceled hearings.

Criminal defendants just need to call or email the clerk of court of the county where their case is filed to sign up for the service.

Court clerk contact information can be found on the state courts website at this link: https://www.ndcourts.gov/court-locations

Parties involved in delinquency and unruly child cases need to contact the juvenile court to sign up for text notifications.

Even if a party has multiple cases filed in multiple counties, once signed up they will receive notifications for all their cases.

After a party is entered into the system, a first text message will be sent asking if the party wants to opt into text notifications.  The party must reply YES to this first message or they will not be sent any additional messages.

The text notification system was tested over a two month pilot period in Cass County.
