Former County Judge F. Gene Gruber died Dec. 26. A UND School of Law graduate, he was admitted to the N.D. bar in 1971. A celebration of life will be held Jan. 11 in Horseshoe Bay, Texas. -

The Department of Justice has awarded $850,000 in grants to the Tribal Judicial Institute at the University of North Dakota School of Law. -
Courthouses to close for Christmas
The Supreme Court and courthouses across the state will be closed Dec. 24 for the Christmas holiday. On Dec. 23, courthouses in Barnes, Foster, Griggs, LaMoure, McKenzie, Nelson, Ransom, Renville, Stark and Traill counties will close at noon while Hettinger County will close at 2 p.m. The courthouses in Adams, Benson, Billings, Golden Valley, Morton, Pembina, Ramsey, Rolette, Sargent, Sheridan, Sioux and Steele counties will be closed all day Dec. 23 while Bottineau and Towner counties will be closed Dec. 27. -

Longtime Supreme Court Staff Attorney Dennis Dockter died Dec. 18. A UND School of Law graduate, he was admitted to the N.D. bar in 1982. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date. -
Roderick B. McLarnan 1926-2021
Longtime Moorhead attorney Roderick B. McLarnan died Dec. 15. A graduate of William Mitchell College of Law, he was admitted to the N.D. bar in 1983. Services are delayed until spring due to the covid pandemic. -
