NWJD Judge Jacobson to retire Monday, March 6, 2023

Northwest Judicial District Judge Paul W. Jacobson has announced that he will retire effective May 31.

In a letter to Gov. Doug Burgum, he wrote "It has been my honor serving the people of North Dakota as District Court Judge."

Judge Jacobson was appointed in 2013 and elected district judge in 2016 and 2022.

Born in Valley City, Judge Jacobson graduated from Fargo North High School in 1966. He studied as an undergraduate at North Dakota State University and earned his law degree from the University of Minnesota in 1973.

Judge Jacobson served in U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's Corps from 1974-1979 and was in private legal practice in Williston from 1979-1993. He served as assistant disciplinary counsel from 1993-1999 and as disciplinary counsel from 1999-2013.
