ND DOCR receives grant for drug court

KFYR News: "The North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation received a $486,253 grant through the U.S. Department of Justice Bureau of Justice Assistance. This is a three-year grant that will increase drug court services statewide."

Chief Justice VandeWalle honored by Association of Counties

The North Dakota Association of Counties presented Chief Justice Gerald VandeWalle the Excellence in Government Dedicated Partner Award on Oct. 7. In accepting the honor, VandeWalle said he considered it recognition of the entire court system rather than an individual award.

U.S. Supreme Court Oct. 16 arguments

Wednesday, the United States Supreme Court hears arguments in a case on state prosecution based on information on immigration forms, a case on life imprisonment without parole for juvenile offenders, and a case on whether the “discovery rule” applies to toll the statute of limitations in the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

LaVern C. Neff 1927-2019

Longtime Williston attorney LaVern C. “Vern” Neff, 92, died Oct. 13. A UND School of Law graduate, he was admitted to the bar in 1952. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19, at Faith United Methodist Church in Williston.

Tuesday, the United States Supreme Court will hear arguments in case on whether members of the Financial Oversight and Management Board for Puerto Rico are officers of the United States subject to the Appointments Clause.
